Forestry

Woodland Management

The estate manages 460 acres of mature and semi-mature mixed woodlands and shelter belts through an in-house team of two foresters.

Products are distributed to local sawmills, fencing suppliers, furniture makers, and firewood markets, with woodchip also sourced for the estate’s community heating system.

Firewood Sales

Firewood is sold as cut hardwood logs, delivered by tractor and trailer (approx. 3.5 cu m.), within a five mile radius, to a well established customer base which has seen considerable growth in recent years.

To order firewood, please contact the Estate Office on 01328 701288. Payment options include card at delivery or bank transfer.

Community Heating System

A woodchip boiler heating system was installed in 2013, supplying heat to Lexham Hall, the Estate Office, two cottages, and greenhouses.

All timber sourcing from the estate reduces heating costs and eliminates dependence on oil.

Long Service Recognition

At the Royal Forestry Society’s 2012 AGM, Roy Clarke received recognition for 51 years of forestry work on the estate, while Peter Hooks was honoured for 40 years of service.
